Welcome to Lindsey Courtright's Technology Resources!
"If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow." - John Dewey
My name is Lindsey Courtright. I am a Senior Elementary and Special Education Major at the University of Scranton in Scranton Pennsylvania. This Wiki was created as a final project for my Educational Media and Technology Class. All the work I have done throughout the semester is available for you here along with some other important sites and educational information.
Our students today are known as digital natives, those born after the general implementation of digital technology. They are very familiar with digital technologies such as computers, the Internet, cellular phones, and digital audio players. Therefore, we cannot expect them to learn the same way students have learned in the past. They receive large amounts of technical stimulation in every aspect of their lives, so why should that be any different in the classroom? Through the use of technology in the classroom, we as teachers can help deepen and enhance the learning process. We can support the four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connections to the real world. I hope you enjoy my wiki and find all the information useful! Also, please watch the video posted below about 21st century learners.
